Historical NoteDerby, New Haven County, Town settled 1651, Town established in 1675, City incorporated January 1893 The Derby Probate Court was constituted July 4, 1858, from the New Haven Probate District. It also processed probate matters for the towns of Ansonia since April 1889 and Seymour since January 1, 1899. On January 5, 2011 the Derby Probate District merged with the Woodbridge Probate District to enlarge the Derby Probate District and serve the municipalities of Ansonia, Derby, Seymour, and Woodbridge.
