The town of Clinton was incorporated in May 1838 and was taken from Killingworth.
The only records for the town of Clinton are unemployment relief expenditures, 1934 December - 1936 January. Included are reports submitted to the Emergency Relief Commission and ledger sheets listing individual recipients.
