Rollin Germain Hubby compiled information about the Hobby family from around 1903 through 1930. For many of those years he
lived in Cleveland, but when he joined the New England Genealogical Society in 1929, he was living in Hollywood, California.
In March 1904, Hubby sent out a bulletin announcing that a Hobby Genealogy was being prepared and soliciting information for
it. In 1910, his intention for a Hobby Genealogy was announced in New England...Register.
Source: Josephine W. Beers letter to Frances Davenport, February, 1, 1979, State Archives RG 074 files.

The papers came to the Connecticut State Library in February 1979 from Josephine W. Beers.

Letters and data of Dr. C.M. Hobby of Iowa City, Iowa |
|
55 |
|
|
|
Dr. Hobby was very enthusiastic over the family history, and a great student of history. A large amount of the data sent in
his letters was written from memory, and as he did not give references as to his sources of information, it has been impossible
to verify much of it. Until such data has been verified it cannot be accepted as authentic, but the letters have been preserved
in hope that the statements made therein can be verified at some future date.
