Established in 1897, the Hartford Dental Society (HDS) is a professional association whose members are dentists in the Greater Hartford area. According to their website, "The mission of the Hartford Dental Society is to cultivate the science and art of dentistry and all its collateral branches; to elevate and sustain the professional character of its members and to disseminate knowledge pertaining to the advancement of health."

Scope and Content
The records contain minutes of meetings, which also include some minutes for the executive committee and officers of the Society, notices of meetings, treasurer’s records, and stenographic notes of a 1932 post graduate course on oral diagnosis.

Provenance
On February 28, 1928, Volume 2 of minutes of the Hartford Dental Society was deposited in the Connecticut State Library by Dr. Edward Eberle. Volume 1 of minutes of the Society was deposited in the Connecticut State Library at an earlier time, but the exact date is unknown.
On May 4, 1932, Stenographic Notes of Post Graduate Course in Oral Diagnosis was deposited in the Connecticut State Library by Dr. S.L. Beckwith-Ewell.
On June 15, 1933, four volumes of Treasurer's account books were deposited in the Connecticut State Library by Dr. S.L. Beckwith-Ewell.
On July 17, 1934, Volume 3 of minutes of the Hartford Dental Society was deposited in the Connecticut State Library by Dr. Eugene M. Clifford, Secretary of the Society.
On June 27, 1935, check stub register (1933-1935) was deposited in the Connecticut State Library by Dr. S.L. Beckwith-Ewell.
In 1936, one volume of minutes of the Hartford Dental Society, for the time frame of June 11, 1934-May 9-1938, was deposited in the Connecticut State Library by Dr. William F. O'Meara, Secretary of the Society.
