Portrayal of Private William Webb, Civil War Soldier of the 29^th Connecticut Volunteers

I was sent back to Hartford, where I lived at 257 Front Street. But the men of the 29^th continued to go forward.  On April 7, they said that the 29th was one of the first regiments to reach Richmond at the close of the Civil War.

Those same soldiers were asked to go down to Texas, where they set up camp at Brownsville. Then they got the call to report home to Hartford, “29th fall in line.”

November 25^th, 1865, the 29^th Connecticut Volunteers were paid, mustered out, and went home.
