The 1934 Aerial Survey Mosaic, Online
In 1935, employees of the Connecticut National Guard
and the State Highway Department pieced 7" x 9" photographs from the 1934 aerial
survey of Connecticut together to form a mosaic of the entire state. The 238
mosaic panels can be viewed in person at the State Library, and in 2004 they
were scanned and merged into one view of the entire state and mounted on the
University of Connecticut Map and Geographic Information Center (“MAGIC”) site
using ER Mapper Image Web Server.
Users associated with participating Connecticut public universities and colleges can use ArcView and ArcGIS to overlay the 1934 mosaic with other maps in the online UConn collection. See the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Statewide Site License page and contact the University of Connecticut Center for Geographic Information and Analysis for more information.
