1959, established, incorporating all work of the former
Food and Drug Commission, per P.A. 412.
Assumed supervision of :
- Board of Pharmacy Commissioner
- Licensing and inspection of slaughterhouses and meats, previously handled by Dept. of Agriculture.
The Commissioner of Consumer Protection was also to serve as the :
- State Athletic Commissioner
- Commissioner of Weights and Measures.
