CGS Sec. 10-1 through 10-4a.
1838, Board of Commissioners of Common
Schools established State Statutes, Title LXXXVII, Chapter 4.
1845, replaced by Superintendent of Common Schools established State
Statutes Title X, chapter 2.
1865, replaced by the Board of Education. A Dept. of Education
becomes the executive arm of the Board, applying all powers and
administering all policies of the Board. Public Acts, chapter CXV.
1965, July 1, responsibilities of the Board dealing with higher education
and the state colleges are transferred to the new
Commission on Higher Education, per P.A. 330.
