2001, August, Governor Rowland authorized the creation of the Division of Protective Services in the Dept. of Public Safety. Late 2002/early in 2003 it was renamed the Division of Homeland Security.

2005 Jan. 1, merged into Dept. of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, per P.A. 04-219.
