Historical Note
In 1958 the State Highway Department took over Connecticut's responsibility for the perambulation, examination, restoration or repair of the state line boundary monuments between Connecticut and its neighbor states of New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island. In 1969 the State Highway Department was merged into the new Department of Transportation (DOT).
Section 3-8 of the General statutes mandates that DOT performs a joint perambulation of the state lines every ten years. Jointly, with representatives from the adjacent states, DOT examines, photographs, and describes each existing monument.

Scope and Content
These records are comprised of the results of four decennial state boundary line perambulations: 1965-1966; 1975-1976; 1985-1986; and 1997. Each perambulation encompasses Connecticut's boundaries with New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The results of the perambulations include photographs, maps, and descriptions of bounds.

Arrangement
Arranged in series by decennial perambulation. The results for each perambulation are then by boundary: Connecticut-Massachusetts, Connecticut-New York, Connecticut-Rhode Island, and therein by numbered bounds.
