Historical NoteThe Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a patriotic organization whose objects are perpetuating the memory and spirit of the patriots of the American Revolution and teaching the ideals of American institutions and the duties of the American citizenship to the upcoming generation. The Penelope Terry Abbey Chapter of Enfield, CT was organized in 1922. The members named it for Penelope Terry Abbey representing Captain Thomas Abbey, French and Indian War and Revolutionary War officer.
