Types of Materials Held, continued Published Materials Publications are printed materials that are created for distribution by individuals and organizations. They may include newspapers, books, magazines, and audio and video materials. Publications are collected and maintained by libraries.
A library is an organization that exists to collect and circulate published material. Publications may be historically important, especially if they are considered rare or valuable; however, they differ from records in that they were published. Because they are published they are managed using library practices, even if they are old! |
