Lesson Three Summary These three categories of materials work together to document all flavors and varieties of history. Each category of materials is managed using a particular body of knowledge and standards. An organization and staff that specializes in that body of knowledge and standards manage each category of materials. Archives specialize in managing historical records.    Museums specialize in managing historical artifacts and objects.    Libraries specialize in managing published material.  You should be able to categorize your own holdings appropriately; then, you will be able to use the tools and practices that are "right for the job."
