Cleaning and Housekeeping

Simple and regular housecleaning should be done to maintain a good level of cleanliness in storage areas. This will help reduce problems with pests. Housecleaning should include:

  • Damp mopping or vacuuming floors (preferably with a High Efficiency Particulate Arresting (HEPA) vacuum cleaner)

  • Dust shelves, storage boxes, and exteriors of bound books with a clean, soft non-treated cloth or brush

  • Do NOT use cleaning products containing oil, chlorine, alum, peroxides, or ammonia!
