|Course:||6: Optional Materials|
|Lesson:||Fundraising and Grantwriting|
Archival activities, from accessioning to preservation, should be part of your program's overall budget. However, there will be times when it’s necessary to find additional funds and when grant writing and fundraising skills are important ones to have.
Creative fundraising and good grant writing can help you purchase new equipment, process collections, or build a new facility. Although we don’t think of these activities as crucial to the preservation of historical records, the reality is that preservation and access cost money; money that often has to be raised by those who care for the records.
Whether or not you’re an expert grant-writer or fundraiser, these are vital activities that help us ensure our collections are cared for.
