Connecticut Archives Month
Connecticut Archives Month, October, 2007
This October, Connecticut joins in the nation-wide celebration of American Archives Month. If your organization maintains historical records, consider participating in this public awareness event. There are many ideas for activities including lectures, exhibits, publications, and special workshops to teach researchers how to use your collections. For suggestions, visit the Society of American Archivists' Archives Month Public Relations Kit at http://www.archivists.org/arc/archweek.htm. Also check out the ideas and resources available at the Council of State Archivists' page at http://www.statearchivsits.org/arc/archweek.htm.
State Historian Walter Woodward will provide a place on his blog, http://cthistory.org/, to post information about your repository's activities, to share researchers' recollections about the greatest "find" or discovery in a Connecticut repository, and to provide information about an unknown treasure in a Connecticut repository whether it is a library, historical society, museum, or archives. For those who want to begin planning a statewide coordinated Connecticut Archives Month for October 2008, please contact State Archivist Mark Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org, phone number (860) 757-6511, or by letter to the Connecticut State Library, 231 Capitol Ave., Hartford, CT 06106.
