Dear Michelle,
  I just met you in the "Dealing with Problem Employees" workshop. And now I
see your post on this list.
   In the children's department of my library we have a Hewlett Packard 550C
ink jet printer. It can be purchased for under $300... as low as $250. While
laser quality is great, ink jets come pretty close, and offer color too, all
for that low price. Kids and adults alike make a lot of use of the printer's
color capabilities. Laser is nice, if you can afford it, but I'd always take
a color ink jet printer over the laser printer for library use...
