Just a quick reply here. Ink jets are cheaper to buy, but tend to be
significantly more expensive in terms of consumables. This is particularly
true of color ink-jets. Kids on color printers can be a very expensive
proposition.
We have several public access terminals both internet and cd based. The
four public access internet terminals share an HP 5-P through aa automatic
four device parallel switch. This works well for us. I will admit that the
5-P was a necessity, when we had a 5-L hooked up to the same connection it
wasn't powerful enough to handle the load. You also have to caution patrons
that printing will not be instantaneous. The switch works on a first come
first served basis.
