Subject: Intel Cuts Pentium Prices
Intel slashed prices of its Pentium and Pentium II microprocessors by up to
57 percent as part of its quarterly price cuts.
The price of the Pentium II 300 megahertz chip was cut 57 percent to $851
from $1,981, the company said.
Prices of the older Pentiums were reduced 26 to 51 percent. The Pentium 233
MHz with MMX, for example, was cut 35 percent to $386 from $594. The
Pentium 150 MHz with MMX, one of the most popular chips for multimedia PCs
and laptops, was cut 26 percent to $241 from $326. The Pentium 200 MHz with
MMX, another popular model, was cut 51 percent to $125 from $257.
