The Lucy Robbins Welles Library in Newington conducted a series of four focus
groups with the business community prior to setting up services. We continue to
have two per year as part of our "plan of work." They range from library pages
to parents of preschoolers to frequent reservers. This year we had librarians
who lived in the town. Now that was a lively group!
>Who did you use to conduct the focus groups?
I conducted the groups. In my book, Helping business, I put an appendix on how
to conduct inexpensive focus groups which might be helpful.
>Why were you using focus groups?
To keep in touch with different segments of the community. Each one has been
worthwhile and becomes one of several important factors in our planning.
