I think I may have an answer for you! The dollar sign is a non standard
ascii code. One way of dealing with this is to change the non-standard
character into a code number preceeded by an =. So what we're reading as
=245.00 on some email programs, mine included ;-), is probably typed in as.
Dollar sign 5.00. First time I've seen this one come up min quite this way.
It took me a while to realize that the = before the 245.00 should be
telling me something.
