I use bifocals, also (not the progressive kind, though). I recently
purchased a second pair of glasses -- non-bifocal -- with the prescription
matching the reading (lower) portion of my regular glasses. These work great
at my desk for computer use. However, when staffing the reference desk, the
constant switching from close to distance makes the new glasses a poor
choice -- I become dizzy. So, at the reference desk, I use my bifocals and
tilt my head back (cute), but when seated at my own desk for any period of
time, I do enjoy the reading glasses. (Because I have an astigmatism, the
$10-type from the pharmacy don't cut it.)
Hope this helps.

Hi folks,
I'm looking for help from someone who has "been there, done that."
I am looking for a pair of new glasses to use when I'm online.
Last year I shifted to bifocles, and purchased the progressive lenses.
They work fine with a few glitches. Reading picture books to a group of
children sitting at my feet was a disaster because I needed to look
through the wrong part of the lense to read the book sideways.
But after a year of trying to adjust my computer screen to multiple
heights, I could never get comfortable, and I suspect I need some type
of glasses specifically to use with computers. I'm not worried about
reading picture books, because I know many of my favorite picture books
by heart.
Any advice? Anything specific to know about glasses that work with
computers?
