Actually the stock answer I prefer is, "Why don't you try rebooting?"

You'd be surprised at how many times that that response is the right one.

Oh, and don't get me started on the issue of PC literacy training.  In this
day and age, there is no good excuse for any librarian out there to not have
a basic understanding of Windows (or Mac) software.
