REFERENCE/ELECTRONIC SERVICES LIBRARIAN


Quinnipiac College seeks a creative, team-oriented librarian to work in
dynamic, exciting environment providing electronic and traditional
reference services to a community of some 3800 undergraduate and
graduate students and a diverse faculty committed to teaching
excellence.  This is the perfect opportunity to move into a growing
web-based information services environment supported with locally
mounted electronic resources and up to date printed reference materials.
 A member of the Association of New American Colleges (ANAC), Quinnipiac
College is currently examining teaching methodologies, information
delivery, and the roles of all instructional personnel on campus.
Librarians, as members of the faculty, are instrumental in these
developments and serve as change agents and instructors for the many new
technologies and tools presently available and envisioned for tomorrow.

The successful candidate will provide reference service (including one
night per week and two Sundays each semester),  provide innovative
instruction to classes and groups, work with a team of librarians and
additional campus personnel to further develop electronic resources, and
define and coordinate the library+s document delivery initiatives.
Librarians at Quinnipiac are developing a liaison program which combines
outreach, collection development, and instructional components.
Assignments are made depending on the librarians academic background
and/or interests.  In the spirit of college librarianship, we are
looking for a motivated individual who enjoys working as a generalist as
well as within the specific assignments listed above.

Salary: $39,000+ minimum.  Salary and appointment commensurate with
academic achievement and experience.

Required qualifications include an ALA accredited MLS; minimum two years
post-MLS professional reference experience; excellent written and verbal
communication skills; familiarity with one or more of the major document
delivery systems for library materials; and basic knowledge of the world
wide web, and Netscape.
Preferred qualifications include academic library experience; previous
teaching experience; supervisory experience; and experience with
Innovative Interfaces+ integrated library system.
