I was recently involved in purchasing a projection system, primarily for
use in displays of computer generated graphics. After comparing features
we selected the Epson5000 and are happy with it so far. This model has a 'native'
resolution of 800x600 and I believe a 450 ANSI lumens brightness rating.
It is capable of displaying resolutions from 640x480 through 1024x768. One
thing to keep in mind is to match the resolution with what you actually are using
on the screen.

That is, a 640x480 projector will often display 640x480 better than a 800x600
projector. Of course, you can usually switch the resolution of the computer
display to 800x600 to get the best picture with 800x600. I believe this is
because you get some loss in fidelity when interpolating/extrapolating
between native resolution and the displayed resolution.

If you're going to be using it mostly for view video tape, the resolution is
not so important, but you may want to look more closely at the color tints.
Some of the projectors have special bulbs which, while bright, may favor
some colors over others.
