SurfWatch Delivers Major Upgrade with Windows 95 Release; Now Includes
Yahooligans! Kid-Appropriate Filtering
LOS ALTOS, Calif.-- SurfWatch(R) Software, a division of Spyglass(R) Inc.
(Nasdaq:SPYG), today announced the immediate availability of SurfWatch 3.0
for Windows 95, a major upgrade of the leading Internet filtering software
that allows parents and educators to block unwanted Internet material.
The SurfWatch software removes no material from the Internet or any server,
but instead blocks it at any computer or local network where it is
installed. SurfWatch filters the World Wide Web, Internet newsgroups, FTP,
Gopher, IRC and Web-based chat connections and is compatible with all
Internet browsers.
SurfWatch's unique Dynamic Filtering Technology, SearchWatch, not only
blocks sexually explicit Internet content, but it also keeps children from
initially searching for material in many of the popular Internet search
engines. The unique power of this feature prevents both incoming and
outgoing transmissions, so children's activities cannot be traced on the net.
SurfWatch filtering blocks these categories:
---16 individual topics in the areas of: sexually explicit material,
violence/hate, gambling, and drug/alcohol sites
---any sites the user allows or blocks by adding custom filters
---"Allow Mode" blocks the entire Internet, except for any sites that the
user allows in the custom filter list Yahooligans! allows access only to
sites on the Yahooligans! list, plus any sites the user allows by adding
SurfWatch 3.0's custom filters.
