Product:
NoveList, a readers' advisory resource, can help you and your patrons
select fiction for adults, young adults and children. The NoveList
database contains over 50,000 titles. Records include Hennepin County
Public Library subject headings, full-text reviews from Booklist (American
Library Association), genre information from the 4th edition of
Genreflecting, (Libraries Unlimited, 1995), annotations and theme indexing
from Anatomy of Wonder 4 (R.R. Bowker, 1995), and series information from
To Be Continued (Orynx Press, 1995). For more information about NoveList,
visit the NoveList pages on the World Wide Web
(http://www.carl.org/NoveList).
Platforms: NoveList is available for several platforms. PC and MAC users
can access NoveList on the World Wide Web. Web access requires a graphical
user interface and a static IP address. Standalone and networked CD ROM
versions of NoveList are available for PC users.
Pricing: Pricing for the NoveList will depend on the level of
participation in this program. If, at the completion of the trial, 50
libraries subscribe to NoveList, the price for a special, 7 month license
(12/1/97-6/30/98) will be $292/building. This special offer will entitle
subscribers to use any or all of the versions of NoveList to meet their
local readers' advisory service needs. Existing NoveList subscribers may
convert the unused portion of their license to the special state offer.
To learn more about the product, pricing and platforms, and to participate
in the free trial, register for and attend one of the NoveList kick-off
sessions. You will leave the kick-off meeting with the information and
materials needed to try the product.
Note: Do not register for the trial if you are enrolled in the October 21
or October 22 NoveList workshop. Workshop attendees will be given the
opportunity to enroll at the end of those sessions.
