POSITION: SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN (CTCP-18), 12 month, tenure track.
ANTICIPATED
STARTING DATE: December 15, 1997
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATION: Master's Degree in Educational Technology, Computer
Services,Technical Communications,Library Science
(ALA) accredited) or a closely related field
plus one (1) year experience in networked and
stand-alone computer environments (including DOS,
Windows NT), CD-ROM, compressed video, laser discs,
HTML and Internet required. Also required,
demonstrated competence in programming, installing and
managing networked systems and in developing custom
applications for library users. Familiarity with the
OCLC and CARL library systems desired. Supervisory
experience preferred.

noted above may be considered for this position by

experience have prepared them for the responsibilities
of this position and by providing appropriate
references. Exceptions to the degree requirements may
be made for compelling reasons.
GCTC seeks candidates with information literacy skills
(personal computer, Internet, etc.) who have
successfully demonstrated experience in responding to
and working with multiple constituencies and in
supporting diversity of ability levels, learning
styles, cultures and languages. Successful candidates
will have demonstrated personal attributes such as
openness to innovation and change, use of creative
approaches to problem solving, and being a team player
among various groups and disciplines.
RESPONSIBLITIES: Under the supervision of the the Director of Learning
Resources, the Systems Librarian provides technical
expertise to integrated library computing and
multi-media services. He/she performs a full range of
professional systems librarian duties. Recommends and
administers policies and procedures and participates in
the establishment of information technology long and
short term goals. Key effectiveness areas include, but
are not limited to, technical support for integrated
library information systems, technical support of
video/computing systems and library user support.
MINIMUM SALARY: $40,216 approximate annual, plus excellent State
supported fringe benefits.
