Subject: Re: HP Laserjet 6L Printer problem
Donna,
My experience with printers such as the 6L is that they are slow, and there
is not much you can do about the speed. What I can recommend is either an
electronic print spooler, a faster printer, or adapting the printer to a
local area network. Let me explain each to you:
Electronic print spooler - some companies market parallel smart switches
which will spool the print jobs on something other than the PC. (Baytech
comes to mind)
Faster printer - If your budget can handle it, the HP 4000 is a new printer
that can handle up to 17 pages per minute.
Adapting your printer to a LAN - Accomplishes the same thing as the
electronic spooling device. This takes the spooling job off of the PC and
transfers the burden to the LAN.
There is one more alternative....tell your users if the ready light is
blinking, don't touch anything.
