The Joint Project Review Group (JPRG), chaired by Ann Montgomery
Smith, New Britain PL, met on Oct. 8 & Nov. 6. Francine Aloisa, Somers,
will replace Mary Freedman, Pequot Library, on the JPRG from Bibliomation.
Ann Montgomery Smith sent a letter to each automated system vendor
who participated in the RFP/RFQ process with RMG Consultants, which was held
this past spring, thanking them and summarizing the current status of the project.
The site visit to the Suffolk County III site will be rescheduled for a later
date.
The participants in Partnership Plus: Bibliomation, CONNECT,
Groton/Waterford, LEAP & LION, have agreed that the Partnership Plus
project, which links each system and offers Internet access, is now a
service of the Joint Project. A revised budget that reflects that decision
was adopted.
A draft of the Bylaws was distributed by Laurel Goodgion, Portland
PL, Chair of the Joint Project Governance Committee (JPGC). The Committee
met on Oct. 8, Oct. 28 & Nov. 6. A final draft was completed at the Nov. 20
meeting of the JPGC.
The Joint Project Directors (JPD) met with representatives from the
National Executive Service Corps (NESC) on Oct. 27 and Nov. 17. Subject to
the necessary approvals, a 6 mos. mentoring contract with NESC is proposed.
In addition to attending JP meetings, a NESC representative will attend the
CONNECT Users Group on Dec. 12 and the next regular meetings of the LION
and Bibliomation networks, too.
On Dec. 8, Mark Hewes, LION, will use structured analysis to
facilitate a telecommunications planning meeting for the JP Directors. On
Dec. 15, the JPD will meet with CSU and CSL staff on telecommunications.
Options for telecommunications architecture and network support, that meet
present needs and future growth, are needed.
The next meeting of the JPRG is December 5.
