to a USF workshop in Washington on Dec. 8th and 9th. I will be posting anything learned from that

KEY DATES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF UNIVERSAL SERVICES
TO SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES
CCSSO Vice President Henry R. Marockie reports that at a meeting yesterday
of the Schools and Libraries Corporation Board, the following actions were
taken with respect to dates in implementation of the universal services program.
1. Application forms for the discounts will be released December 8, 1997;
2. The *Help Desk* with service to respond to questions about the new forms
will be opened by the NECA on December 10, 1997;
3. The web site for posting of intended purchase of services eligible for
discounts will be available January 12, 1998;
4. The period of time for receipt of applications by the Schools and
Libraries Corporation, which will be considered to be *simultaneously*
filed, will start January 12, 1998 and continue for 75 days; and
5. January 1, 1998 will be the starting date for expenses to be eligible
for discounts under the Universal Services program.
Please advise your state technology representatives of these key dates for
this program. The Schools and Libraries Corporation is expected to have a
press release indicating these dates shortly.
