    We have two seats left in the Introduction to Microsoft Publisher workshop that will be held at the Willimantic Library Service Center next Thursday, November 8, 2001, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration fee: $10

    Introduction to Microsoft Publisher 2001
    This workshop was created with the novice designer in mind. It will introduce basic desktop publishing techniques concentrating on practical workplace applications, such as brochures, newsletters and flyers. You will be introduced to essential Publisher elements, including page set-up, layout guides, graphics and templates, and working with text and picture frames. Part of the day will be spent learning and using Publisher tools, and the rest of the day will be spent applying this knowledge to sample projects. If you have a project in process, please bring it in hard copy or diskette format. Please bring a diskette to save your work. Each workshop participant will have their own computer to work on. Topics will include:
    v Using the Publisher window & toolbar.
    v Three basics of good design.
    v Setting up and laying out pages.
    v Building pages with frames.
    v Working with templates.
    v Choosing fonts and placing text.
    v Working with pictures/graphic elements
    v Guidelines for using color.

    Your instructor will be Sharon Cavanaugh, owner of Drawing Attention, a graphic design, desktop publishing and web design service. Drawing Attention has been in business since 1987 providing brochures, newsletters and illustrations for clients ranging from international conferences to marathons and private corporations.

    REGISTRATION PROCEDURE Registration will be by e-mail only to: workshop@cslib.org. It is very important that you include all of the following information in your e-mail registration: YOUR NAME(S), NAME OF LIBRARY WHERE YOU WORK, LIBRARY ADDRESS & ZIP, WORK TELEPHONE NUMBER, THE WORKSHOP TITLE AND SESSION YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR, AND ANY SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION YOU MAY NEED. Confirmation or denial letters will now be sent by e-mail only and sent as soon as your e-mail registration is received and opened. Payment should be received at least one month prior to the workshop date.
