CLA LEGISLATIVE ACTION ALERT!!!
The Connecticut Library Association's Legislative Committee is asking all legislative links to contact your local Senator and/or Representative(s) THIS WEEK with the following request:
*Don't cut funding for the Connecticut Digital Library: iCONN.org ($2 million)
*Transfer iCONN funding from surplus funds to the State Library's operating budget
As you may know, the Digital Library has been one of the most popular and successful library programs that the General Assembly has ever funded, even among legislators themselves. Since continued funding for the Digital Library may be most at risk among CLA's legislative agenda priorities at next week's special session of the General Assembly, we are not focusing this action alert on our other issues (funding for CLSU's, public library construction, Time for Ideas in Libraries, and family literacy programs), which we will plan to address in the next regular session in February 2002.
