CONSULS Directors

Meeting, May 24, 2006

The CONSULS Directors met at WCSU on May 24, 2006.  Topics discussed included:

• LibQUAL survey progress.  Responses to date include:  CCSU:  1,098; SCSU:  1002; ECSU:  248; WCSU:  79; and CSL:  256.  We may not get our statistical responses until all five surveys are closed.  
• III Upgrades.  Per Edward Iglesias and III, we can upgrade directly to Rel. 6 so we will do that in Aug. 2006.
• CONTENTdm.  CCSU is going with this product for their digitized collections, starting with veteran’s oral histories.  They have a 10,000 item license.  CSL also has CONTENTdm.
• Images.  ECSU and CCSU have the Amica database and use Luna Insight to manipulate images.  Their faculty are satisfied and costs are ca. $1,800 per year for ECSU.  ArtStor would cost much more, ca $17,000 archive fee plus annual fee for ECSU.  SCSU has ArtStor and will probably stay with it as their patrons are happy with it.
• JSTOR.  Campus libraries may want to add the Arts & Sciences Complement.  ECSU has purchased A&S III and A&S IV, with a price adjustment for duplicate titles.
• VISTA.  Campus libraries would like a hook or link to the libraries on the VISTA template.
