First established by Public Act 77-561 (see 11 CGS 9c et seq.), the Connecticut State Documents Depository Library Program administered by the State Library acquires, catalogs, preserves and makes available all publications produced by Connecticut state agencies.
The State Library’s collections contain publications and reports chronicling governance of the state for the past one hundred and fifty years. These documents collectively record almost every aspect of Connecticut’s history, natural resources, socioeconomic condition, culture and quality of life.
Check our catalog for specific publications. The State Library compiles the Checklist of Publications of Connecticut State Agencies as a record of state publications in each calendar year. Many of these materials are available for direct or interlibrary loan.

The State Library is also exploring ways to enhance access to state government information published on the web, and has established the Connecticut Digital Archive to collect and preserve state government publications published only in electronic format.
The State Library hosted the first ever State Documents Librarians, Eastern States Conference on May 11-12, 2000 in Hartford, Connecticut.
