Reference

Many questions can be answered immediately by consulting the Connecticut, United States and Municipal Government Research Guides and the About Connecticut page.

Librarians are available to assist with ready reference and research questions in the areas of government and public policy during all the hours the Library is open. Assistance is also available by telephone (860-757-6500), fax (860-757-6569), or e-mail. Collections

The  Unit maintains comprehensive collections of Connecticut and United States government publications dating from the late 1700's to the present. These collections, numbering well over a million and a half pieces, support the Library's roles as the Regional Federal Depository for Connecticut and Rhode Island, and as the Connecticut State Documents repository. These collections are complemented by a large selection of research guides, online indexes and abstracts, and full-text databases. The Unit also houses a collection of Connecticut Municipal Documents dating back to the mid 1800's.

The Unit maintains collections of monographs, serials and databases in areas of public policy, such as public health, labor, education, transportation, environment and politics.  A collection of core reference materials, emphasizing public policy, and a collection of civil service study guides are also available.

Mission

These services support the Connecticut State Library's mission to "....provide high quality library and information services to state government and the citizens of Connecticut."
