- The committee staff, under the direction of the Chairperson, organizes the bills assigned to the committee into subject matter categories.
- Often there are a few bills that are very similar. Grouping the bills by subject matter helps committee members consider these bills at the same time.
- Remember that committees can also create their own bills. Bills originating from a committee are called raised bills.
