Hearing transcripts are the official record of a committee's proceedings regarding legislation or issues of concern.

Paper Holdings and Locations

Hearings are located on the 6th floor of the stacks, shelved by SuDoc number. Our extensive collection began in the early 1900s.

Microfiche Holdings and Locations

Hearings on microfiche are located in cabinets on the 6th floor of the stacks, filed by SuDoc number. The collection dates back to the 97th Congress (1981).

Unpublished Hearings

1823 - 1964 (18th - 88th Congress) Senate microfiche is in balcony cabinets. Use CIS Index to Unpublished US Senate Committee Hearings (GIS REF KF40.C55) or  LexisNexis™ Congressional, a database  available through the public Internet terminals at the Connecticut State Library (More information) to determine microfiche number for a specific hearing.

1833 - 1964 (23rd - 88th Congress) House microfiche is in cabinets located off the Balcony in Room L-502. Use CIS Index to Unpublished US House Committee Hearings (GIS REF KF40.C54) to determine microfiche number for a specific hearing.

Online Versions

Some online Hearings may be available at the Internet site for the committee which held the hearing. See U.S. House of Representatives or U.S. Senate.

1995-present, (104th Congress-), hearings released to the Government Printing Office from the Committees are on GPOAccess.
