State Record Center
198 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
The State Records Center is a centralized facility with a storage capacity of 70,000 cubic feet of records that houses and services semi-active state agency records. The State Records Center accepts records that are on a current retention schedule prepared by the Office of the Public Records Administrator. State agencies needing to transfer records to the State Records Center must prearrange the transfer with the Supervisor of Record Services for State Agencies. Please see General Letter #10 (revised 3/15/04) for additional information. The State Records Center's services are provided to state agencies free of charge. It is not open, however, to the general public.
The State Records Center participates in an active Records Destruction program. When an agency's records have met the retention period, the State Records Center forwards the destruction authorization form to the agency's Records Management Liaison Officer for review and approval. Before physical destruction takes place, the Public Records Administrator and the State Archivist review all destruction authorization forms to ensure the retention of any record of enduring legal or historical value.
